MAJOR RELEASE (2026-06-03): **Ideogram 4.0** shipped as an OPEN-WEIGHT model with a commercial license -- a first for the company and a structural shift in the image-gen market. Specs per the vendor announcement: 9.3B-parameter single-stream DiT architecture, 0.97 on X-Omni OCR text rendering (extending its signature text-in-image lead), bounding-box layout control, and 2K photorealistic output. Open weights + commercial license means self-hosting and fine-tuning are now on the table, putting direct pressure on FLUX's open-weight niche while keeping the hosted product as the easy path. Ideogram 4.0 is also already available inside Krea (6/3)

Custom Models (April 2026) lets you train brand-specific image models on 15-100 of your own images for typography, characters, or visual style. Available on Pro / Team / Enterprise plans (Team plan supports unlimited custom models with team-shared access; Enterprise gets white-glove setup, larger 1000+-image datasets, custom typography/SVG logos, and a data-privacy guarantee). This is the most accessible custom-model offering in the consumer image-gen space -- competitors typically require API-only fine-tuning or expensive Enterprise-only paths. Caveat: early adopters report overfitting on tight datasets (single-character archetypes, narrow style ranges) and the trained models don't always generalize beyond training-set composition
