SHUTDOWN (effective 2026-06-18): Google is **retiring Gemini CLI and the Gemini Code Assist IDE extensions** for Google AI Pro & Ultra subscribers, free-tier Gemini Code Assist for individuals, and individual Code Assist for GitHub (no new installations after this date). On June 18 these stop serving requests with no grace period -- any CI/CD or script calling `gemini` breaks. **Enterprise customers** (Gemini Code Assist Standard/Enterprise licenses, or GitHub access via Google Cloud) keep access with ongoing model updates. Replacement: **Antigravity CLI** -- Google explicitly says 'there won't be 1:1 feature parity out of the gate' but it keeps the most critical Gemini CLI features (Agent Skills, Hooks, Subagents, and Extensions, now as Antigravity plugins).
